The activity is called Kōryūkai (交流会). It was held on the Center of Japanese Studies, University of Indonesia, Depok, East Java, on Monday (19/11/2018) evening. This was a cultural exchange meeting with Japanese students that are studying at University of Indonesia. There were also some students from University of Indonesia that are not part of JAC Indonesia and a student from other university that were participating Kōryūkai because this activity was joined with the Japanese Trump Card Game by Japanese Student Association in Indonesia (JSAI), an organization created by the Japanese students. Also, it was because of the online invitation of Japanese Trump Card Game that published on JSAI’s Official Instagram Account that was meant for public.
Before starting Kōryūkai, the Trump Card Game was started first and was divided into two sessions. On the first session, all participants were divided into four groups with 4-5 members. The first session was held in 3 rounds of game. On the second session, the participants were divided again into five groups. The grouping was done by random number counting to make the participants know each other. The participants were enjoying the game until the second session was over.
Kōryūkai was started after rounds of trump card game. The participants were divided again into four groups with 6-7 members, including 2 or 3 Japanese students. The theme was “Culture Shock”, an unexpected cultural discussion between Japanese and Indonesian that was meant to shock the participants. The topic of the discussion was about how Japanese students adapt in Indonesia, their daily life in Indonesia, and many other unique experiences. Indonesian students that had visited Japan also shared their experience on Japan.
Kōryūkai was over in 6:30 PM (GMT +7). After that, there were participants that headed straight to home and there were also participants that continued to chitchat while playing trump card again. This Kōryūkai was a very interesting cultural sharing activity for Japanese and Indonesian students to create a good bond between them afterwards.
